KyberVision Japan LLC and Cambridge Research Systems Unveil Metropsis for macOS

Metropsis – Visual Function Assessment for Clinical Research

SENDAI, Japan — May 19, 2017 — KyberVision Japan LLC (Sendai, Miyagi) and Cambridge Research Systems (Rochester, UK) are pleased to unveil Metropsis for macOS , the new version of Cambridge Research Systems' visual function assessment suite for Clinical Research.

Metropsis is a modular, expandable and configurable testing system suitable for clinical research, applied vision research, drug trials, screening, sports science and human factors research. It includes an optional "Nurse" interface and remote App for iPad to control and monitor the tests. It also comes with several pre-built standard clinical tests (visual acuity, spatial and temporal contrast sensitivity, colour discrimination, binocular vision) and can generate PDF reports after each test session. Metropsis for macOS is already in use at multiple clinical sites in the UK, USA, Canada, Germany and Portugal.

Cambridge Research Systems specializes in bringing to market the best hardware solutions for vision science, while KyberVision Japan LLC specializes in bringing to market the best software solutions for vision science. Metropsis is the result of a fruitful collaboration between the two companies who brought together their expertise in software, hardware, and clinical development for Vision Science.

Powered by KyberVision's Psykinematix, an easy-to-use and powerful software solution for visual psychophysics, Metropsis takes advantages of the computation power (GPU Computing) available in modern graphics cards. Their computation power is harvested without any additional work from the end-user: built-in and custom stimuli can be generated on the fly and in real-time hence minimizing the amount of required video RAM and freeing the CPU for other important tasks like precisely collecting the subjects' responses and communicating reliably with other pieces of equipment like the Bits# Stimulus Processor, Display++ LCD Monitor, IR response boxes, ColorCal 2 colorimeter, SpectroCAL Spectroradiometer and other accessories from Cambridge Research Systems. Metropsis is fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 ("Snow Leopard") to macOS 10.12 ("Sierra"), and runs on Intel-based Macintosh computers.
